Celukan Bawang power plant starts operation

China Huadian Engineering Co Ltd (CHEC) started on Tuesday operating the 3x142 MW Celukan Bawang coal-fired power plant in Buleleng Regency, Bali.

Majority owned by CHEC with partners Merryline International Pte Ltd and PT General Energy Indonesia, the US$700 million power plant will supply electricity in the resort island of Bali for 30 years at a volume 2,831 GWh under a power purchase agreement with state-owned electricity firm PT PLN.

?In the first phase, three generators with capacity of 142 MW each have been built, and there is room for two additional generators with capacity of 300 MW,? said CHEC Director Jian Fang Shuai during the inauguration ceremony of the plant in Bali. (*)
