Antara quoted company Commissioner Vince Indigo as saying Tuesday that construction process is expected to be completed in 18 months, hoping that the plant could start operation next year.
Cemindo is currently constructing a cement plant, which will have a capacity of 4 million tons per annum. As of the first quarter of this year, about 80 percent of the targeted works have been completed.
Vince said that the one power plant unit with a capacity of 60 MW is actually sufficient to support the cement plant?s production activity, but there is potential for the company to double the production capacity in the future, thus the decision to build two power generating units.
He said that miners in Lebak are expected to supply part of the coal requirement of the power plant, while the remainder to come from mines in Kalimantan or Sumatra. (*)
