Cempaka diamonds achieve US$2.5 million at tender

London-based BDI Mining Corp. announced Monday that the first commercial tender of 6,518 carats of diamonds from its Cempaka mine in South Kalimantan resulted in sales totalling US$2,506,674.
BDI said the tender result represents an average selling price of US$384.60 per carat, 35 percent better than the last Cempaka diamond valuation of US$285 per carat. The largest stone in the tender parcel was a 16.38 carat diamond which sold for US$74,529, or US$4,550 per carat.
The tender was conducted in Antwerp under supervision of BDI?s independent consultants WWW International Diamonds Consultants Limited.
According to BDI, the next diamond tender will be held in October. (Robert)
