Central Java opens bidding for Ungaran geothermal prospect

Central Java provincial government is scheduled to announce the opening of bidding round to operate and develop Ungaran geothermal working area.
Mining Office Head Teguh Dwi Paryono was quoted by Bisnis Indonesia as saying that Ungaran had potential to generate 50-MW of electricity.
He said that a number of investors such as IDX-listed firms PT Medco Energi and PT Bakrie & Brothers had express interest to participate in the bidding.
Winner for the bidding will be announced in December, he said.
He also said that provincial government is also preparing to offer two geothermal prospect called Guci and Baturaden. Based on preliminary survey, Guci has the potential to generate 100-MW, while Baturaden is estimated to be able to generate 185MW of electricity. (*)
