Central Kalimantan?s Murung Raya set to become district

The Murung Raya area in North Barito district, Central Kalimantan province, is set to become a separate district following an expose conducted by a special district development committee (KPK) in Jakarta recently.

The local Banjarmasin Post daily quoted head of Murung Raya KPK A. Pardian as saying that a team of experts from the interior ministry would visit the area in September including to check its natural resources potential.

Pardian was optimistic that Murung Raya would finally become a separate district soon. He pointed out that the area was rich with various natural resources including coal and gold, which could be exploited to help finance the operation of a new district administration.(*)
