Central Omega plans nickel smelter to start ops in 2015

IDX-listed nickel ore producer PT Central Omega Resources Tbk reported that ground breaking of its nickel smelter project is set in the first quarter of this year with completion seen in 2015.
The company did not give detail about the capacity of the planned smelter.
Earlier media report said Central Omega is teaming up with an undisclosed Chinese firm to build a 160,000 TPA nickel pig iron smelter.
The company also reported that in line with the government's decision to ban export of mineral ores this year, it has stopped nickel ore export starting January 12 .
The company operates nickel mines in Southeast and Central Sulawesi.
