The Banyu Urip field of the Cepu block in Bojonegoro regency, East Java has reached the production level of approximately 150,000 bopd, according to a top official of ExxonMobil Cepu Ltd (EMCL).

VP Public & Government Affair of EMCL Erwin Maryoto said that the production was achieved without the operation of the Early Production Facility (EPF) and the Early Oil Expansion (EOE). EPF and EOE are rental facilities whose contract expired in the second week of last January.

Deputy of Operations Control at upstream authority SKK Migas Muliawan said the production from Banyu Urip field may peak at 165,000 bpd in this April.

According to Muliawan, the production will increase again once the gas injection facility has come into operation. This facility is targeted to begin operation in late March.

The Cepu block in the border areas of Central Java and East Java is one of the prime oil and gas projects expected to come onstream this year. The block is jointly operated by ExxonMobil Cepu Ltd (EMCL), a unit of ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia, and PEPC.
