Ceremony on Tuban?s 100 million barrels production milestone

The Tuban block in East Java, operated by JOB-PPEJ, the joint operating body of Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) and PetroChina, has produced more than 100 million barrels of oil throughout its operation since 1997.

A ceremony was held today (Friday) in Gresik, East Java presided over by R. Priyono, Head of upstream authority, to mark the production milestone as well as the maiden gas delivery to customers from the Terang, Sirasun, Batur (TSB) fields in Kangean block.

?This is quite an achievement in view of the fact there aren?t many working areas of production sharing contractors which have reached oil production of more than 100 million barrels,? Priyono said.

Pertamina?s Operational Director Edi Purnomo told Petromindo that the block consists of three production fields, namely Sukowati, Mudi and Gondang.

Edi said Mudi, the oldest field, has a cumulative production totaling 37 million barrels since the start of its production in 1997. Sukowati has produced a total of 71.6 million barrels since 2004.

?Thus, cumulative production from both fields has reached 108 million barrels. Meanwhile, Gondang field has produced a total of 9 million barrels. The block hit its 100 million barrel of oil production mark in November last year,? Edi said.

He further explained that Mudi reached its peak production in January 1999 with an output of 23,525 barrels per day (bpd), while Sukowati in February 2010 with an output of 45,964 bpd.
