China Gezhouba Group Company Limited (CGGC) said that on July 14, the first boiler drum of the 2x50 MW Parit Baru coal-fired power plant in West Kalimantan was hoisted successfully, marking the first construction phase of coal-fired units installation completed.

CGGC said in a statement last week that the successful hoisting of boiler drum made a preparation for installation of heating surface and hydraulic pressure test in boiler, laying a foundation for project's completion.

The Parit Baru coal fired power plant, located in Bengkayang, northwest of West Kalimantan province, Indonesia, occupies a land area of 40 hectares. The project mainly involves the design, procurement, construction, commissioning and trial operation of 2?50MW coal-fired generating units. According to the contract, the project will be completed within 33 months. The present project, when completed, will markedly improve the electricity supply on the West Kalimantan Island, in the meantime, creating considerable job opportunities for local people.

Ground breaking for the project, CGGC?s first thermal project in Indonesia, was held in September of 2013.
