Chevron, Anadarko completes Kalimantan, E. Java farm-in deals

US oil firm Chevron Corp. has completed farming out part of its interest in several East Kalimantan exploration block to another US firm Anadarko Petroleum and also has completed farming in Anadarko-operated exploration block in East Java, Chevron Indonesia spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday.

Anadarko had acquired a portion of Chevron?s interest in Muara Bakau, Ambalat, Bukat, Popodi and Papalang PSC, said Chevron Indonesia spokesperson Pramono Indroharto. He said detail about the percentage of interest acquired by Anadarko would be released later.

Prior to Anadarko?s farm-in, Chevron held 50 percent non-operating interest in Muara Bakau, 33.75 percent in Ambalat and Bukat blocks. The three blocks are operated by Italian oil firm Eni SpA. Chevron held 24 percent interest in Popodi and Papalang blocks. Anadarko will take over operatorship of Papalang and Popodi from current operators Zodan NV (for Popodi) and Zudavi NV (for Papalang). Both Zodan and Zudavi are companies controlled by Malaysian tycoon Ananda Khrisnan

Pramono said that Chevron had also acquired some interest in Northeast Madura III exploration block offshore East Java, where Anadarko has 100 percent interest. Sources said that Chevron intended to acquire 40 percent interest in the block. (godang)
