Chevron bids in N. Sumatra geothermal tender

Eight companies are bidding in a tender to get right to develop Sorik Marapi-Roburan-Sampuraga geothermal resources in North Sumatra.
The companies include US super major Chevron Corp., IDX-listed energy firm PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk and Star Energy, a Petromindo.Com source, who is a former high-ranking official at North Sumatra provincial government said.
The area has the potential to generate 200-MW of electricity.
The source did not give detail when the winner would be announced.
Meanwhile, Medco will be given right to develop Sipoholon geothermal prospect which is located near its Sarulla geothermal power plant project, the source said.
The prospect could generate 50-75 MW of electricity. (godang)
