Chevron eyeing Indonesian retail gas ops

US oil giant has applied for license to set up retail gasoline stations operations in Indonesia, a government official said on Wednesday.

Erie Soedarmo, Downstream Director at the Ministry of energy and Mineral Resources told reporters that Chevron is eyeing to set up operations to sell unsubsidized fuels in Indonesia?s major cities.

Erie said he did not know yet the number of the stations the oil major would set.

Another oil major French?s Total SA, has also applied for retail license, Erie said. Chevron and Total will join existing new players Shell and Petronas, which already set up operations in greater Jakarta area.(godang)
