Chevron lowest bidder for Lampung geothermal project

US energy giant Chevron Corp, in cooperation with local firm PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya, has emerged the lowest bidder to win Suoh-Sekincau geothermal prospect in Lampung, a government official said on Tuesday.

Procurement tender committee Dwi Hartoto told Petromindo.Com that Chevron offered 6.9 US cent per Kwh, lower than another bidder PT Supraco Indonesia which quoted the price at 7.6 US cent per Kwh.

The West Lampung regency administration is reviewing the bid, he said without setting the date for announcement of the winning bidder.

Earlier, the regency administration had short-listed the two consortia out of the four contestants for the prospect. Suparaco Indonesia?s consortium members are Australia?s Origin Energy and India?s Tata Power.

Suoh-Sekincau prospect has potentials to generate 160 MW of electricity. (bernard)
