Chevron may produce 800MMCFD from deepwater fields in 2013

Upstream oil and gas authority BPMIGAS said on Thursday that Chevron Corp.’s five deepwater gas fields offshore East Kalimantan would be able to produce 800 MMCFD when fully completed in 2013.

BPMIGAS Chairman Kardaya Warnika said that BPMIGAS is currently reviewing Chevron’s plan and would soon recommend to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for approval.

Kardaya said that the fields are expected to start production in 2012.

He further said that additional supply of 800MMCFD would significantly add to East Kalimantan gas supply, including supply to LNG producer Badak NGL, which currently suffers acute gas supply shortage.

Chevron IndoAsia Deputy Managing Director Suwito Anggoro said Thursday it had submitted plan of development for Gehem and Gendalo hubs late last month. Gehem hub consists of Ranggas field and Gehem field, Gendalo hub consists of Gendalo field, Maha field and Gandang field. The fields are located in Rapak, Ganal, Makassar Strait and Muara Bakau PSCs.(godang)
