Chevron Corp., the operator of Indonesia Deepwater Development (IDD) project in Makassar Strait, offshore East Kalimantan, has been appointed as the gas seller of the project, a high ranking official of upstream authority BPMIGAS said.

?The appointment of Chevron to market the gas from the IDD project has actually been made,? Gde Pradnyana, Head of PR, Security and Formality Division at BPMIGAS, told petromindo.com.

Gde?s statements were made to clarify earlier remarks made by Deputy of Operation Rudi Rubiandini, who said that discussion was still underway on the granting of sales appointment agreement (SAA) after state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina and Chevron made the request to become the gas seller.

The IDD gas project is in water depths of approximately 6,000 feet, which will include two separate hub developments, each with its own floating production unit (FPU), subsea drill centers, export gas and condensate pipelines and an onshore receiving facility. It is scheduled for commercial production by January 2015.
