Chevron okays Duri expansion plan

US energy giant Chevron Corp. reported on Friday that during the second quarter of 2010 it reached final investment decision for Development Area 13 of the Duri Field in Central Sumatra, where Chevron holds a 100 percent working interest.

This latest expansion will leverage existing steam and production facilities to increase production from the field by approximately 20,000 barrels per day, it said without disclosing detail when the project would be started.

Duri field, which is located within the Rokan PSC, has been under steamflood since 1985 and is one of the world?s largest steamflood developments. In 2009, 80 percent of the field was under steam injection, with total production averaging 188,000 barrels of crude oil per day. (alex)
