Chevron's gas to be supplied to Java: Minister

The government has asserted that as much as 350 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSFD) of gas used by oil and gas company Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI) for secondary recovery oil process in Duri field will be supplied to Java to help solve gas crisis in the region, Bisnis Indonesia reported Wednesday.
Minister of state enterprises Sugiharto said in Jakarta Tuesday that CPI should replace the oil processing equipment in Duri using gas from ConocoPhillips with coal processing equipment in regards to the transference of gas to Java.
Earlier, East Kalimantan LNG producer PT Badak NGL, or popularly known as Bontang LNG plant, plans to build coal-fired power plant to reduce the plant?s use of natural gas to generate electricity.
The use of coal steam will allow Badak to convert the equivalent of 21 cargoes of LNG it currently burns for electricity, or equivalent to 300MMCFD into export, company president Yogi Suprapto said on Nov 10, 2006. (*)
