Chevron sees further C. Sumatra production decline

Monday, September 8 2008 - 05:53 AM WIB

Indonesia?s top oil producer Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI) expects production from its Central Sumatra fields to decline to 382,000 barrels per day next year versus 405,000 BPD this year.

CPI President Suwito Anggoro told parliamentary hearing on Monday that this year?s average production missed target of 408,000BPD given by the government due to anticipated flooding and rainy season at the end of the year. More over the decline was also caused by power outage that hit the fields last July.

Suwito said CPI will drill 520 wells this year in Central Sumatra

CPI?s crude production from Central Sumatra had been on the decline mode in the past few years due to maturing stage of the fields.

CPI is a 100 percent subsidiary of US giant Chevron Corp. (Bernard)
