Chevron still waiting for govt? decision on Siak block

PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI) stated that the firm is still waiting for an official response from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) related to the Siak block extension, which expires on November 27, 2013.
"PT CPI has followed the published GOI Concession extension process and submitted a formal proposal for Siak block contract extension to GOI/ESDM through BPMIGAS (now SKKMIGAS) on 21 September 2011, so we are waiting a response from Ministry," CPI's Communications Corporate Manager, Dony Indrawan, told Petromindo.com on Monday (2/9).
He did not elaborate on the production from Siak, but said the block played a crucial role in supporting the operation of Rokan block, which contributes the most to CPI?s production from Riau. The firm is Indonesian largest oil producer.
"The Siak Block is a crucial part of Chevron's Sumatra integrated operations, including supporting production from the Rokan Block. The Siak Block extension is critical to maintain the productivity of the two fields (Menggala South and Batang)," he said.
Dony insisted that with this contract extension, the management of shared facilities and operating cost for these fields will be more effective and efficient.
