Chevron?s President Director Abdul Hamid Batubara said the power plant would be built in a geothermal field located between Mount Suoh and Mount Sekincau, West Lampung. ?At present, the company is conducting a geologic assessment,? he added.
Because the project was still under an exploration stage, the company had yet to conduct a negotiation with state owned electricity company PLN on the pricing of the power supply, he said.
Hamid said that Chevron would use the government?s new price reference of between 10 and 17 US cent as the basis in determining the price of the electricity. He also said that the company had not yet fixed the commercial operation date of the new power plant. ?If the result of the feasibility is good, the commercial operation date could be realized between 4 and 6 years from now,? he added.
