State electricity firm PLN said on Thursday that Java-Bali electricity grid would get an additional supply of 110 megawatts in July or August this year when another unit of Chevron’s Drajat geothermal power plant in Drajat, West Java start commercial operations.
PLN's director of primary energy and power generation Ali Herman Ibrahim told Petromindo.Com that the operation of the Drajat III unit would help ease Java-Bali electricity supply shortage.
Chevron has invested US$140 million on the plant. Chevron also operates the 90-MW Drajat 2 unit and sells steam to Indonesia Power, which operates the 55-MW Drajat I unit. (godang/alex)
