Chevron to start North Duri field production in 2008

A unit of US oil major Chevron Corp., Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI) planned to start production from its Area 12, North Duri oil field in the end to 2008, Media Indonesia reported Monday.
CPI?s President Director Suwito Anggoro said last week that the Area 12 was estimated to produce up to 25,000 barrels per day (bph).
CPI operates several maturing oilfields in several PSCs in Central Sumatra.
CPI in a hearing with the House of Representatives on Nov. 14, 2007 that it would produce crude at the rate of 398,000 BPD in 2008.
Suwito Anggoro said in an August 2007 interview that the company is trying to arrest production natural decline to 7-8 percent per year by making investment for advanced recovery technologies.
Without investment in maintenance, said Suwito, production would have been declined by 15 percent annually.(*)
