Chevron unable to drill eight wells due to rigs unavailability

Chevron Indonesia Company (CICO) said that it cannot yet realize this year its planned drilling of eight exploration wells offshore East Kalimantan due to the unavailability of rigs to contract.

Speaking during a presentation before the drilling convention in Jakarta on Friday, upstream authority SKK Migas Survey and Drilling Division Head Arief Fanzuri said that the KGB rig which was expected to do the drilling is still tied to drilling contracts in Vietnam, so the eight wells cannot be drilled this year.

The eight wells are Yakin YWB-16 (West 16), Yakin YWB-17 (West 17) (GP), Yakin YWB-18 (West 18) (GP), Yakin YWB-19 (West 19) (GP), Yakin YN-26 (North Maruat 1), Yakin YN-27, BC-4, and BC-5.
