PT Jasa Daya Chevron (JDC) , a subsidiary of American energy giant Chevron Corporation, has won the tender to develop a geothermal power plant with a capacity of 2x55 MW on Mount Ciremai, West Java.

Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) Rida Mulyana said that JDC outbid other bidder, PT Hitay Renewable Energy in the tender held in October 2012 by the West Java provincial government

The PLTP Ciremai power plant is scheduled to operate in 2020 with JDC expecting to invest an estimatedUS$400 million. The project will only cover two hectares of land on Mount Ciremai, according to Rida.

The West Java provincial government has yet to issue an IUP permit for the project as JDC is still negotiating on shareholding with the firm owned by the provincial administration (BUMD).
