Chevron wins Lampung geothermal concession

US energy giant Chevron Corp, in cooperation with local firm PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya, have been declared winner for Suoh-Sekincau geothermal prospect in Lampung, Director of Geothermal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Sugiharto Harsoprayitno said on Tuesday.
Chevron emerged as winner after beating local firm PT Supraco Indonesia, which teamed up with Australia?s Origin Energy and India?s Tata Power, in the process.
Earlier, Procurement tender committee Dwi Hartoto told Petromindo.Com that Chevron offered 6.9 US cent per Kwh, lower than Supraco Indonesia which quoted the price at 7.6 US cent per Kwh.
Suoh-Sekincau prospect has potentials to generate 160 MW of electricity. (bernard)
