ChevronTexaco offers Pertamina JV opportunity to explore Bangladesh oil, gas block

State oil and gas company Pertamina said on Friday that US oil giant Chevron-Texaco offered Pertamina to farm in its oil, gas exploration block in Bangladesh.

?It?s too early to make conclusion about the offer, as Pertamina will have to consider it carefully due to human resource and fund limitation,? said Pertamina president Baihaki Hakim. Baihaki did not say the name of the block, or the percentage of working interest the US company is offering.

Baihaki did not name the block, but ChevronTexaco has 60 percent working interest in Block 9 PSC, which covers an area of 6,880 sq km situated close to Dhaka city.

Separately, Minister of Eenergy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said Bangladeshi government had also prepared block VIII and XI exploration blocks for Pertamina to study.(godang)
