ChevronTexaco's oil & gas production unaffected by events in South Asia

US oil major ChevronTexaco said tuesday that its oil and gas production facilities and operations in Indonesia and Thailand were unaffected by the tragic earthquake and tsunamis that struck South Asia earlier this week.
"Our thoughts and condolences go out to the many victims of this unprecedented devastation, and we will be offering financial aid to the relief efforts," said Peter Robertson, vice chairman of ChevronTexaco. "We also want to reassure our partners and customers that our oil and gas production facilities in the region remain fully operational."
Chevron Texaco, through its wholly owned subsidiary PT. Caltex Pacific Indonesia is the country's top crude producer, supplying 500,000 barrels of crude daily from its Central Sumatra oilfields. The company also has interest in ConocoPhillips-operated Block B oil, gas field offshore Natuna. (alex)
