China asks for rescheduling of Tangguh LNG price renegotiation talks

The government's team tasked to renegotiate the Tangguh LNG selling price to China will again pay a visit to China to discuss the latter's request to reschedule the price renegotiation talks to early next year.
"We will again meet with the China's government to discuss their rescheduling request. The talks had actually been scheduled for last May, but they requested a rescheduling to early 2014," said SKK Migas Deputy of Commercial Control Widhyawan Prawiraatmadja to petromindo.com.
The government has been trying to get a better price for the Tangguh LNG exported to China?s Fujian as the price of US$3.5 per mmbtu under the current contract is deemed too low.
In May, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has assigned Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik to lead the renegotiation team. But according to the Presidential decree that becomes the legal basis of the team setup, Jero and the team have the mandate valid until December 31, 2013 only.
