China interested to develop power unit at CPP

A business delegation from China expressed interest to develop a power plant at the Coastal Plain Pekanbaru (CPP) oil field in Riau, the Riau Post daily reported.

The plan was proposed to the Minister of Trade and Industry Luhut Pandjaitan on Friday during a meeting with the Chinese business delegation.

Luhut said that he would convey the proposal to the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Purnomo Yusgiantoro.

The government is currently in negotiation with the Riau administration to resolve dispute over the CPP oil field, in which Riau had insisted to gain control over the oil field after PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia's contract expires in August 2001. (*)
