Chen Xinyou, the mayor of Rota Deyang, one of districts in China, has promised that he would ask state owned company Dongfang Eletric Corporation to take part in the construction of power plants in Indonesia, Kontan reported Monday.

He made his promise during a meeting with the chairman of the House of Regional Representatives (DPD) Irman Gusman who visited the district and other parts of China last week as part of his official visit to the country.

Gusman invited Chinese companies to invest in Indonesia such as in the construction of power plants during the meeting with Chen, the former chairman of Dongfang Electric Corporation.

During the meeting, the mayor of Rota Deyang said that he would soon ask Dongfang Electric Corporation to follow up DPD chairman?s invitation. ?We will ask Dongfang to follow up our talks,? he added.

He said that Dongfang might involve in the construction of two hydropower plants, each with a capacity of 1,200 megawatt. ?The electricity will be sold to PLN,? he said, adding that Dongfang had so far sold 12 power turbines to 12 power plants owned by PLN. ?We will send a team to follow up our discussion with Irman,? he added.(*)
