The plan by China to ban import of low rank coal would not effect PT Bumi Resources.

"We have long shifted all export of our low rank coal from China to India. The plan won't impact Bumi Resources," Herland Siagian General Manager Marketing, Bumi Resources said on the sidelines of CoalTrans Asia in Bali on Tuesday.

He said that its coal expots went to among others Tata Power in India. The rest that's not exported was consumed by domestic market.

China?s National Energy Administration (NEA), the government body framing energy policy, has drafted a regulation that would ban the entry of thermal low rank coal into the country.

The draft, according to local media in China quoting Platts, showed that the export ban would be imposed on coal with calorific value of less than 4,544 Kcal on a net-as-received (NAR) basis, having a maximum sulfur content of 1 percent and a maximum limit for ash of 25 percent on as-received basis. The targeted 4,544 Kcal (NAR) is equal to 4,844 kcal/kg (GAR).

The draft also sets higher standards on coal importing companies, requiring a registered capital of more than 50 million yuan and over 1 million tons of yearly imports during the past three years, as well as corresponding facilities and coal storage places.
