A 11-strong team from China?s province of Guangdong has arrived to hold a due diligence on the Tangguh liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in the Papua province.

The team headed by Li Miaojuan, vice director of the Guangdong Development and Planning Committee, arrived in Jakarta Tuesday and paid courtesy calls on state oil and gas company Pertamina?s president Baihaki Hakim and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro Wednesday morning.

The delegation was accompanied among others by Bill Schrader, the president of BP Indonesia, a subsidiary of Anglo-American energy giant BP Plc, during the courtesy calls.

BP Indonesia?s vice president Satya Widya Judha told Petromindo.Com that the team had earlier visited Qatar where they also held due diligence on an LNG project there. After completing the due diligence in Indonesia, the team will continue their tour to Australia to examine the LNG project there. The three countries have passed the preliminary selection to participate in the tendering process for a long-term contract to supply the Guangdong province with LNG.

Indonesia expects to supply LNG to Guangdong from the Tangguh LNG project in Papua, which is controlled by BP Indonesia. (Godang)
