China Shenhua starts operation of 2nd unit power plant

Chinese giant China Shenhua Energy Company Limited reported on Wednesday that its 70 percent-owned Indonesian independent power producer unit PT.GH EMM Indonesia (GH EMM) has started the operation of the second unit of its mine-mouth power plant in South Sumatra.
The company said that on November 3, the No.2 unit of power plant has successfully passed the pilot operation and commenced actual operation for power generation, indicating the project's entry into full operational stage, the company said.
GH EMM Project, through the integrated operation of coal and power at mine mouth, is equipped with 2?150 MW power units, together with an open-cut coal mine with an annual production capacity of 2 million tonnes.
The No.1 unit of the Project completed pilot operation in June 2011, and the coal mine commenced mining operation in March 2011, the company said. (alex)
