China will limit its coal production to 3.9 billion tons per year

China is planning to produce not more than 3.9 billion tons of coal every year within the 12th five-year plan of coal of the country that is on going from year 2011 to 2015.
Sun Xin, Deputy Director Energy Division, China Coal Information Institute, in her presentation in a conference in Jakarta today said that this program is applied as the China government's efforts to control the country's coal production.
In 2010 China produced about 3.2 billion tons of coal. Currently coal is the main source of primary energy in China, representing almost 70 percent of the total energy source consumption. Sun Xin added that coal-fired power plants are still the main coal consumers in China.
