Chinese companies competing for three 300-400 MW coal-fired power plants

The Chinese companies include Harbin Power Engineering, Dongfang Electric Corporation, Shanghai Electric Power Company, China Machinery and Equipment Import and Export Corporation (CMEC), Guang Xi Electric Power and China International Trust and Investment Company (CITIC).
The head of the tender committee for coal-fired power plants with a capacity of between 300-400 MW, Tony Tandojoyo, said in Jakarta Wednesday that three power plants being bid by the Chinese companies include Pacitan coal-fired power plant in East Java with a capacity of 2 x 300 MW, Pelabuhan Ratu coal-fired power plant with a capacity of 3 x 300 MW in Banten, and Teluk Naga coal-fired power plant with a capacity of 3 x 300 MW, also in Banten.
Tony said that a consortium of Harbin Power - PT Mitra Selaras Utama, a consortium of Dongfang - PT Dalle Energy and a consortium of Shanghai Electric - PT Maxima Infrastructure are competing for the construction of PLTU Pacitan.
The three Chinese companies and their local partners offer a biding guarantee of US$6.8 million with Bank of China and OCBC Bank acting as trustees.
Meanwhile, a consortium of CMEC - PT Mega Power Mandiri, a consortium of Guang Xi Electric - PT Adi Karya and a consortium of Shanghai - Maxima Infrastructure are competing for the construction of Pelabuhan Ratu power plant.
CMEC and Dongfang with their local partners also compete for the construction of Teluk Naga coal-fired power plant with a consortium comprising of CITIC - PT Pembangunan Perumahan - PT Hutama Karya.
" We will soon evaluate the bidding procedures in two weeks before formally unveiling their bids," he said.
Earlier, PLN has decided to retender for all the construction of the 300-400 MW coal-fired power plants. (godang)
