Chinese company to develop iron ore mine in W. Sumatra

A Chinese company has secured a regional permit?s (SIPD) license to develop a 100-hectare iron ore mine in Solok regency, West Sumatra, the province's chapter of the Indonesian chamber of commerce (Kadin) chairman Asnawi Bahar has said.
"With the issuance of SIPD license, we hope the Chinese company would soon commence the mining activities," he was quoted as saying by Bisnis Indonesia on Thursday.
He did not name the Chinese company but said that the firm would cooperate with local company in conducting its iron ore mining activities.
The Chinese company expected that an exploration activity will begin next year, he said.
According to him, in addition to the mining activities, the Chinese would also build a processing plant to produce semi-finished steel products which would be exported to China. (*)
