Chinese consortium acquires S. Sumatra power plant project

Two Chinese companies, China National Chemical Engineering Corp and Chengdu Engineering Corp have acquired a 100 percent stake in PT. Asrigita Prasarana, the owner of a 1x150-MW combined cycle power plant project in Palembang Timur, South Sumatra province.
In the signing ceremony held in Jakarta Monday, the Chinese consortium said it would spend US$150 million on the project, which is scheduled to commence construction next month and to be completed in July next year.
State electricity firm PLN will buy electricity generated by the power plant at between 4.2 to 4.4 U.S. cents per kwh.
Natural gas requirement of around 25-30 million standard cubic feet per day (MMCFD) will be supplied from Pertamina?s South Sumatra gas field. (godang)
