Consortiums of Chinese companies dominated the tender to build 2x60 MW Pulang Pisau coal-fired power plant in Central Kalimantan, Antara news agency reported Thursday.

Head of the province's oil, electricity and energy office Thomas Sembiring said in the province's capital of Palangkaraya on Thursday that the US$120-million power plant would be built by one of the consortiums comprising Chinese companies.

“Out of the 40 bidders, only three consortiums from passed and fulfilled the requirement,” he said.

The consortiums are led by China Heavy Machinery, Shandong Electric Power Construction and PT Mega Power Indonesia, respectively.

Under the plan, the construction of the plant is expected to start this year and come on stream on in 2009. (*)
