Chinese firm plans to build coal-fired power plant in N. Sumatra

Indonesian firm partnering with Chinese investor is planning to build 2x150 MW coal-fired power plant in port town of Belawan, North Sumatra, Detik.Com reported Tuesday.
The news portal quoted Awong Wijaya, director of PT. Toba Sia Power as saying that the Chinese firm, which name was not disclosed, would invest US$250 million to build the power plant with construction time estimated 30 months.
Coal supply, which will use low calorific value coal, would be sourced from Jambi, South Sumatra and other areas.
The report went on as saying that power pant capacity would be doubled with the construction of another 2x150MW unit.
It is not immediately clear if the company has signed power purchasing agreement with state electricity firm PLN. (*)
