The city administration of Pontianak in West Kalimantan Province plans to cooperate with Shanghai Electric Group Co Ltd and Zhong Sheng Hua Tai International Energy Co Ltd to process waste into electricity.

The three signed a MoU on Tuesday over the planned waste-to-power project.

Deputy Mayor of Pontianak Edi Rusdi Kamtono said feasibility study and discussion of others details are expected to be followed up soon after the MoU.

He said that the planned power project, estimated to have capacity of 8-10 MW, will be located near the Batulayang landfill.
