Chinese, Indian firms scouting for Indonesian coal mines

Chinese and Indian top firms are looking for coal mines in Indonesia to be acquired.

Media reports said that China's largest coal company Shenhua Energy is mulling buys in Indonesia and Australia as overseas mines were becoming potentially more competitive because of the rising cost of transporting coal from China's northwest, the country's resources heartland.

Meanwhile, India?s second largest private power producer, Reliance Energy Ltd, is reportedly scouting for coal mines overseas including in Indonesia. (*)
