Chinese investor begins coal project in C. Kalimantan

Chinese company, China Xinshidai Holding Limited plans to develop a 70-kilometer road along the Barito river in Central Kalimantan to support its coal mining project in the North Barito regency, Antara reported on Friday.

The regent of North Barito regency, Yuliansyah, said on Thursday that the Chinese company would develop coal mining in a 47,500-hectare area in the regency’s Lahei district.

“The company began its feasibility study last month,” he said, adding that besides coal mining, the Chinese company had also expressed its keen interest to invest in oil and gas exploration and production activities in the Lahei district. (*)
