Chinese ship carrying 27,000 tons of coal catches fire

Chinese-flagged ship MV Teshing carrying 27,000 tons of coal caught fire in waters of Bontang, East Kalimantan, Media Indonesia reported on Wednesday.

The local navy personnel managed to rescue eight of the ship?s crew and then took them to Bontang public hospital, but at least 16 other were still missing, the paper said.

?We received information on July 17 that a ship was missing. We then launched a search and later found the ship was razed by fire,? East Kalimantan's Navy chief Retarto said.

He said that the ship departed from Samarinda, the provincial capital of East Kalimantan on July 14 and was declared missing on July 17.
