Chubu Electric says first LNG from Donggi-Senoro in 2014

Japan?s third-biggest power utility Chubu Electric Power Co., said on Wednesday it will buy 1 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) a year from the Donggi-Senoro project in Indonesia.

Chubu plans to receive LNG from the 2 million ton-a- year project starting in the second half of 2014 under a 13-year contract, Chubu Electric said in a statement in Tokyo as quoted by Media.

Chubu plans to form a marketing company with the three companies to sell some of the LNG that it buys from the plant, Yoshiyuki Kodama, an official at the utility?s fuels department, said at the briefing.

The LNG project on Central Sulawesi is being developed by a joint venture in which Mitsubishi Corp. holds a 51 percent stake. PT Pertamina has a 29 percent share while PT Medco Energi Internasional holds the rest. (*)
