UK-based mining company Churchill Mining plc has commenced diamond core and open holes drilling at its Sendawar coal project in East Kalimantan.
Churchill said in a statement on Monday that the 5,000-meter drilling program is the first phase of the planned 18-month campaign in which approximately 23,000 meters will be drilled.
According to the statement, Churchill has contracted an Indonesian drilling company PT Maxidrill Indonesia to carry out the drilling program with the initial target of identifying the position of 5 million tons of coal.
?At this threshold the Company believes it should be in a position to begin trial mining. Any cash flow from this operation would be re-circulated back to the project by way of an expanded exploration programme,? Churchill added. (Robert)
