Churchill Mining files appeal to Supreme Court

Thursday, September 15 2011 - 10:28 AM WIB

London-listed coal firm Churchill Mining Plc said that it has today filed a notice of appeal to the Supreme Court of Indonesia following the negative decision received from its appeal to the Administrative High Court of Jakarta.

The original appeal to the Administrative High Court was launched to seek to overturn the decision by the Administrative Tribunal in Samarinda, East Kalimantan in relation to the revocation of the four mining licenses that comprise the East Kutai Coal Project (in which Churchill has a 75 percent interest).

The company's solicitors have commenced preparing the memorandum of appeal to the Supreme Court which will be lodged within the required timeframe of 14 days.

The company reiterated that it strongly objects to the original ruling of the Administrative tribunal in Samarinda and remains committed to protecting its interest in the East Kutai Coal Project and seeking an appropriate remedy for its shareholders. (romel)
