Company director Yusof Merican told Petromindo.Com recently that in the first phase construction, the firm is building three stockpile each with a storage capacity of up to 150,000 tonnes of coal.
At the present, the company is loading around 72,000 tonnes of coal into a Supramax named ?Daphne Schulte? with a capacity of 93,000 dead weight tons (DWT), bound for India, he said.
?It takes around five days to complete the loading due to (the fact the terminal is) still in commissioning stage,? he said.
Yusof said the terminal is ready to serve clients with one stockpile already taken up by a local trading company and second stockpile under final stage of negotiation. ?We expect to finalize the negotiation and close the deal this month. The client is an international bank back trading arm,? he said without mentioning the name of the prospective client.
In the first phase of the terminal's development, more than US$40 million has been invested to install state-of the-art facility to handle 5 million metric tons of coal per year, including two barge un-loader from Libherr with a unloading capacity of up to 1,200 tonnes per hour. Each un-loader is served by two hoppers to feed the incoming conveyor at a rate of 1,200 tonnes per hour carrying the coal to the respective stockpile. The incoming conveyor will deliver coal to the stockpile.
CIBT terminal started its construction project at the end of 2008, and the contract duration of 30 months due for completion in first quarter 2011.
CIBT is a 95 percent subsidiary of Sinomast Metacorp (Labuan) Ltd, which is a joint venture between MTD Group and PT Bintang Sinomast Ltd. The remaining 5 percent stake was held by an Indonesian businessman, Yusof said, while refusing to name the Indonesian investor.
The joint venture, through its special purpose company PT Cigading International Bulk Terminal (CIBT), has been awarded a 32-year concession to develop, run and operate the international coal terminal at the Port of Cigading in Cilegon. (denny)
