IDX-listed power company PT Cikarang Listrindo Tbk, which provides electricity for the Jababeka industrial estate, said that its 2x140 MW coal-fired power plant in Babelan, West Java, is expected to start operation in the fourth quarter of this year.
Company Commercial Director Matius Sugiaman told petromindo.com on Tuesday that once in operation, the power plant will need about 1.2 million tons of coal per year.
He said that Cikarang has secured a five-year contract with a South Kalimantan coal miner for the supply of coal with CV of 4,200-4,400 kcal per kg. He declined to disclose the name of the coal miner.
Meanwhile, Cikarang Finance Director and Corporate Secretary Christanto Pranata said that in the future, the Babelan power plant can still be expanded by developing three other units (3x140 MW) as the required land is already available.
?The land available there can accommodate up five units. So another 3x140 MW can still be developed using funds from the IPO,? he said, referring to last month?s initial public offering.
