Cikarang?s new power plant to start operation this year

IDX-listed power producer PT Cikarang Listrindo Tbk is optimistic that its new 2x140 MW coal-fired power plant project in Babelan, Bekasi Regency, West Java Province, will be able to start operation this year.
?Construction of the power plant has started since December 2012. So far, construction progress has been in line with schedule. It is targeted to be completed in 2017,? said President Director of Cikarang Listrindo, Andrew K. Labbaika on Tuesday, adding that the power plant comprises of two boilers using CFB technology from Europe.
Cikarang currently operates a combined 864 MW of gas-fired power plant, and gas and coal-fired power plant, located at the Jababeka and MM2100 industrial estates in Bekasi.
The new power plant is an expansion project to anticipate future demand in the region, Andrew said.
Last year, Cikarang booked a revenue of US$550.9 million, or a slight 0.5 percent increase from $547.9 million in the previous year. The revenue came from electricity sales to industry customers in the industrial estates totaling $401.9 million, a 5.3 percent increase from $381.8 million in the previous year, while sales to state-owned electricity firm PT PLN declined by 10.3 percent to $149 million. Net profit increased to $103.84 million from $80 million in 2015.
