State oil and gas firm Pertamina has repaired the leaking pipeline which transmits oil from Cilacap refinery in Central Java to a depot near the West Java capital of Bandung, Tempo Interaktif Online reported on Saturday.

Tempo quoted Gugur Martono, head of the marketing section of Pertamina?s Central Java operations, as saying on Friday that the pipeline had started functioning normally on Thursday evening.

The pipeline was found leaking on Apr. 15 in the Kawunganten village in Cilacap Regency. It is one of the two pipelines channeling oil from Cilacap to West Java.

Martono said however oil leakage may occur again because several segments of the pipelines are located on swampy land with high salt content. (*)
